The 2015 Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA) expired Oct. 1 when Congress failed to pass an extension. What will be the fallout when legal protections no longer apply to companies sharing cybersecurity intelligence with the federal government?
Wall Street Journal sought out expert opinions to explore the answer, including our own Peter Bellini, CEO of ConnectSecure, who said the lapse can be an opportunity to reconfigure the industry’s approach to swapping information.
“Threat sharing helps defenders, but can also tip off attackers,” Peter told the WSJ. “The real challenge is finding the right balance, making [CISA] expiration both disruptive and an opportunity to rethink how information sharing should work moving forward.”
